It's time to put on your mask, snorkel, and fins because we are about to dive into volunteering at Fox Lake Farms.
When a person snorkels they see the ocean for really how it is, they are under the water therefore everything seems so real. As for volunteering at a barn you would think it's all easy and fun but as you go deeper as when you do in snorkeling tasks become more challenging. When snorkeling the task is holding your breath to see the beautiful underworld of the sea.
For volunteering the task is trying to keep up with taking care of all the needy horses. Volunteering made me see things in a new way. I was not so depended on getting paid, I liked to simply help out. Same goes for snorkeling you see things in a new way as you get deeper, pretty reefs, and neater fish.

It was bath day for Pearl! Every Saturday Pearl gets a bath because her white coat is filthy. I arrived at the barn and leaded Pearl our to the wash rack.
As soon as I tied her up she scrapped her front hoof loudly over the concrete slab in boredom.
I rinsed her whole body down, and then I squired shampoo all over. The scent of coconut filled the air from the shampoo.
As I walked behind Pearl she swatted my back with her sharp tail. Her tail felt like nails going in to back because her hair is so stiff. My mouth became very dry so I took a sip of the water, not realizing it was well water my tongue curled up in disgust. My tower back burned in pain as I bent over to wash every sock of Pearl's four legs. Finally she was white as cotton!

As soon as I got to the stables I walked over to Pearl's stall and fed her a carrot as a treat for being such a good horse to me. When I was feeding the carrot stick to Pearl I noticed two of her stall boards were knocked down, I had no idea how she managed this or why she would do such a thing. In leading to this problem Pearl began to become very angry with me because I had no more carrots. Pearl was a fat horse, and was hungry all the time.
When I ran out of carrots Pearl become frustrated and wanted to be loose in the pasture with the other horses so she could graze. Pearl decided to kick another board down, and Pearl had escaped! I jolted after Pearl but couldn't catch her. She became a horse on the run that nobody could catch. Wednesday, April 4, 2012
Responsibility is trait we should all encounter. Being responsible means you are accountable for your actions. As a person people look for the trait of responsibility for reliability. Volunteering for Fox Lake farms is one way to achieve the trait responsibility. Volunteering is a responsibility to fulfill when doing actions out of your own free will. When volunteering for Fox Lake Farms you have to devote yourself to the horses, therefore when they need to be brushed or their stall needs to be cleaned it is your responsibility to clean it because you volunteer there.
Horses need a lot of attention. Horse's cannot feed themselves or open their gate to go to the pasture, in doing so you are responsible to take care of those actions. People depend on your ability to follow through with a task if you are a responsible person, it is a good trait to have.

As I unlatched the clip to enter the horse stall, a fresh smell of manure filled my nostrils. The dark brown and white paint horse stood in the back of the stall.
Her ears pinned straight back. Fear filled my head. I hung the tack box over the stall boards and decided to put the fear behind me.
It was time to groom Pearl. I put the halter over her head and tied the lead rope to another stall board so she couldn't run out of her stall. First I picked out all four hoofs with the hoof pick, next I took the body brush to remove all excess hair on her body, finally I brushed her main and tail with a comb.
Pearl was beautiful. My level of fear disappeared by the time i was done grooming Pearl. Her ears were very perky and she was ready to graze.
